NICOLE CATHERINE THERAPY

MY APPROACH

THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

No two people experience life in exactly the same way, which means no two therapy journeys should look the same either.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic models to meet you where you are. Together, we'll find the approaches that best support your goals, your experiences, and the changes you're hoping to make.

Emotion Focused Therapy

Have you ever noticed that different parts of you seem to want different things? One part wants to rest, while another insists you should keep going. One part wants to make a change, while another turns to familiar habits for comfort or protection.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is based on the idea that we all have different "parts" within us, each with its own role, experiences, and intentions. Rather than trying to silence or get rid of these parts, we become curious about them with compassion and understanding.

Together, we'll explore what these parts are carrying, what they're protecting you from, and how they can begin to work together from a place of greater balance and self-leadership.

No prior experience with IFS is needed. If this approach resonates with you, feel free to mention it in your inquiry form.

INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS

Sometimes the struggle isn't the difficult thoughts or emotions themselves, it's the constant effort to avoid, control, or fight against them.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you develop a different relationship with your thoughts and feelings so they no longer dictate your choices. Instead of waiting until you feel more confident, motivated, or certain, ACT focuses on helping you move toward the life you want while making room for life's inevitable challenges.

Using mindfulness, values exploration, and practical strategies, we'll work together to build psychological flexibility so you can respond to life with greater intention rather than reaction.

ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY

Many relationship struggles aren't really about the surface issue. They're often rooted in deeper emotions, unmet needs, or fears of disconnection.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is grounded in attachment theory and helps uncover the emotions beneath recurring patterns in relationships. Whether you're working through challenges with a partner, family member, or simply wanting to better understand your own emotional experiences, EFT creates space for meaningful connection and healing.

Together, we'll slow down, explore what's happening beneath the surface, and work toward building safer, more fulfilling relationships.

EMOTION FOCUSED THERAPY

Have you ever caught yourself in a spiral — a thought leads to a feeling, a feeling leads to a behaviour, and before you know it you're somewhere you didn't want to be?

CBT helps you examine the stories your mind tells you — especially the ones that are automatic and quietly cruel — and learn to relate to them differently.

DBT goes a step further, focusing on emotional intensity, distress tolerance, and the tension between wanting to change and needing to accept where you are right now.

Both approaches are practical and grounded. You'll leave sessions with real tools you can use — and a clearer sense of the life you're working toward.
